Stephen Towers
​
Stephen is Managing Director at Hotel Golf Resort Experts. He is a founding board member of the UK Golf Federation and set up Crown Management Services during his time as longest serving Chief Executive of Crown Golf Group, the UKs largest golf club owner operator.
​
Stephen has over 30 year's experience in international hotels, resorts, health clubs, golf clubs and asset management. He has worked across multiple different ownership structures including private equity, institutional investor, corporate, trusts and individual owner operators.
Stephen began his career in hospitality and leisure working in the busy kitchens of a major London hotel, before attending hotel school. An award winning graduate of the renowned Shannon Hotel College, his career quickly progressed through a range of management roles in up scale four and five star rooms division and food & beverage operations. He has consistently been an innovator, from developing Jurys early revenue management reporting in the 1990's to incepting and developing with Cornwall Colleges, the St Mellion Hospitality Academy and Tournament Golf College in the early 2000's, providing a pipeline of new talent to the industry.

From his early management career Stephen established a track record of revitalising underperforming businesses and assets, often with limited or no financial resourcing, consistently improving profitability, service and standards concurrently through a deliberate focus on the people and what's really important to the business. Under his leadership he has moved hotels from 3 to 5 star, achieved Condé Nast Golf list status, returned membership clubs to capacity as well as completing multiple refurbishments, new openings and property planning gains with multi-million pound cash returns to shareholders. He has turned multiple loss making assets into profitable businesses and developed numerous managers in the process, some now senior executives in their own right.

Stephen's negotiating skills and his experience and understanding of complex ownership structures have been key to him unlocking deal structures for shareholders and trustees, opening up planning opportunities, delivering long term rent reductions, negotiating out multimillion pound dilapidation claims, determinations of unfavourable leases, time share restructures and ultimately shareholder exits.

These skills, combined with a highly analytical, numerate and technical knowledge, valuable industry wide relationships provide Hotel Golf Resort Experts with a unique edge.
